DTERM SERIES E ADAPTER (IPA-U10)
The Dterm® Series E Extender provides the capability to allow voice access to a corporate NEAX® or Electra Elite® for a single remote-user or local-user in an IP environment. Voice and signaling traffic generated by the Dterm Series E will be placed into IP packets and sent out to the LAN via a 10BaseT Ethernet connection to the Dterm IP Gateway. Likewise, traffic destined for the Dterm will be converted from the IP protocol into a TDM format. Using the Dterm Series E Extender and Dterm IP Gateway, workers can connect a Dterm Series E back to the corporate NEAX or Electra Elite over the LAN (Ethernet) as well as through managed IP networks such as xDSL or Cable.
The Dterm Series E Extender provides a choice of four algorithms, G.729A, and G726 (ADPCM24 and ADPCM32), to reduce bandwidth requirements and G.711. The Dterm Series E Extender will extend the full functionality of the NEAX or Electra Elite to a telecommuter or small branch office via IP - over a LAN or WAN. Remote users with Dterm Series E display terminals are made a fully functional extension off the corporate office NEAX or Electra Elite, including ACD functionality and voice-mail.
All voice traffic and signaling information from the digital phone system is packetized by RVP (Remote Voice Protocol). These packets are encapsulated into IP packets and sent out over Ethernet. The voice packets can share the Ethernet network with other common data devices. The user also has the option of connecting their PC to the LAN through an RJ45 Ethernet jack on the Dterm Series E Extender, which acts as a repeater hub.
The voice and signaling traffic is transmitted from the Dterm Series E Extender over the LAN to the Dterm IP Gateway at the central location. At the Gateway, the packets are converted back into the appropriate Dterm signaling protocol and sent to the NEC NEAX or Electra Elite via an RJ21 cable.
