NEC Gatekeeper 1000 is a state-of-the-art application software that provides industry standard interoperability between the NEAX® platform and non-NEC products that meet H.323 standards. Now everyone in a converged VoIP network can experience the benefit of a NEAX converged IP backbone, a reliable, market-proven network solution that provides comprehensive features and has stood the test of time.
For the first time, an H.323 gatekeeper provides a solution for wide area networks that delivers the necessary level of scalability and reliability to assure quality and superior performance in an enterprise IP telephony network. NEC Gatekeeper 1000 provides H.323 IP trunk connectivity between dissimilar NEAX , Elite (IPK) and other H.323 platforms, while taking advantage of the reduced transmission cost of communicating across a packet network and providing trunk features previously unavailable between dissimilar switches.
The Gatekeeper 1000 is a new product that provides a bridge between the standards based H.323 set of solutions and the NEAX enterprise. Virtual H.323VoIP trunks from the PBX are associated with the NEC Gatekeeper 1000, which then guides the setup and teardown of voice circuits between the two dissimilar gateways. The NEC Gatekeeper 1000 provides tandem PSTN access and terminal services between the H.323 gateways in the satellite and centralized locations.
